The Twins First Easter

We finally had some nice weather here in the PNW, on Saturday it reached...wait for it...69 degrees!! I know I know, thats hardly the lovely spring weather most get but right now we will take what we can get.

I decided with the nice weather only predicted to last on Saturday I was going to dress the babies in their Easter outfits and take them outside for a little photoshoot! Good thing I did because it poured on Sunday!

Here are some pics from our day!

I have some very photo friendly children, they sat and played with all the plastic eggs while I shot dozens, ok ok, maybe hundreds of photos of them! So glad digital cameras were invented because I couldn't afford film for this many photos!

On Easter Sunday we got up to celebrate with the Twins, they both got some outfits and a couple of toys, we went simple this year...next year we will be doing Easter Egg hunts I'm sure.  They played for awhile, then napped while we prepped our meal.  My parents and Aunt all came over to join us and we all ate until we were STUFFED! Once everyone had left we changed the babies into their Easter clothes and headed to the in-laws for another dinner.  Luckily that dinner wasn't ready until 7 cause I would not have been able to stuff anymore food if it had been any earlier.  The twins got some outfits fro Grandma and Grandpa and played with everyone while we waited for dinner.  Once we had eaten we stayed around for awhile and then headed home to put the twins to bed.
All in all it was a lovely Easter and a great first Easter for the twins. I hope all of you had a great Easter as well.

Kicking off a countdown!

The twins turn 1 in one month....ONE MONTH PEOPLE!! O MY GOODNESS I WILL HAVE TWO 1 YEAR OLDS....TWO....ONE YEAR OLDS!!

Ok freakout complete...but seriously I can't believe that they will be turning one in a month.  This year has truly flown by.  I feel like it was just yesterday that I was pregnant, that they were born and that they came home....my how time needs to slow down.

I mean my little teeny tiny babies are now babbling, crawling all over the place almost toddlers....

I think I will be celebrating all of May as their birthday month!

As for party planning, their invitations went out and now I am planning the menu...any great ideas would be totally appreciated as right now I have about 3 things that I know I will have but I want good finger foods, nothing complicated and it needs to be kid friendly....

The colors are pink/blue/brown/green....I figure I have many years of character birthdays ahead of me so for this year were keeping it simple.

Anyways...Im babbling and well its like 8 pm here and Greys is a rerun AGAIN! So I suppose I will watch the office...Hope everyone has a great night!!

We took the twins to Cabelas

Thankful

My grandma had a hip replacement today, everything went well and she is now recovering at the hospital. Funny story though, she had surgery at Tacoma General which is where we "lived" for a little over a month with hospital bedrest and a NICU stay for the twins. My mom drove up to the valet to have her car parked and the young man recognized her from our stay there. He remembered her from the fact that we brought home made cinnamon rolls for the valets and nurses and everyone else that we loved at TG. I just love that they remembered...our cinnamon rolls must be really really good!

A Whole New Respect!

So this weekend my hubby went up to Whistler with his brothers and dad for a "boys" weekend, full of skiing and eating and generally relaxing.  This means I was a single mama at home with the twins.  I have not spent time apart from him since the twins were born, he is an amazing daddy, always helpful and constantly playing with them.  I am used to his help and probably take it for granted on a daily basis.

Anyways, he left town about 2 pm on Friday, I decided to take the twins to Target to run some errands.  Im used to doing this on my own which made it easier.  They love to people watch so they just smiled at everyone who looked at them.  When we were finished up at Target we headed back home around 4ish.  This is where is starts to get a little harder.  While they have been trying to drop their afternoon nap on me for some time now, they tend to get a little cranky now around 4pm, so I did my best to entertain them by myself (turns out I'm not as funny as daddy is).  We finally made it to feeding time at the zoo.  I am learning my timing skills now that I have to cook them dinner and have it ready by 6 pm.  As they were sqwaking at me for their food, I was rushing to get their pasta noodles cooled down so they could eat them.  Finally it was ready to eat, so they finished that off quick, I topped them off with some cereal and proceeded to start our bedtime routine.  Luckily even though the were exhausted, they went to sleep with no troubles.

Saturday we all got up and played the day away, they napped a little but we mostly played and played and played....boy I was tired.  My parents were coming over to watch them so I could go to a girls night out to celebrate a friends birthday! I was excited to get out of the house but by the time 9 pm rolled around all I could think about was getting back home.  I came home to quiet sleeping babies and went to bed.

Sunday we basically repeated Saturday again until daddy came home at 6ish.  Man, was I happy to see him, the kids were very excited that their daddy was home!

I definitely had fun taking care of them by myself and it was fine for a weekend, but I don't know how single moms do it, they must be some incredibly stong women.  I definitely take for granted the fact that I can leave the babies at home with their fully capable daddy while I run out to do errands and such.

All in all it was a successful weekend, everyone is healthy and happy (other then daddy's ankle) which he rolled while walking...but he still managed to snowboard and have fun.  And now I am tired  EXAUSTED  Hope everyone had a great weekend and here's to a GOOD week!

P.S. However I will pat my own back since I had a pot roast in the crock pot and chocolate chip cookies in the oven when he came home!! O and a semi-clean house!! YAY ME!

You know you're a mom when....

You climb into your babies crib to help the go to sleep only to have spit up flung into your eye....

What's your "you know you're a mom when...." moment
